A Gentle Return: Free Yin Yoga Class with Sofia Tsakiridou

A Gentle Return: Free Yin Yoga Class with Sofia Tsakiridou

In a world that often asks us to move faster, do more and push harder, Yin Yoga is a quiet invitation to slow down — and listen. To the body. To the breath. To the subtle messages that are so easy to miss in everyday life.

In this free Yin Yoga class, Sofia guides you through a deeply nourishing practice that creates space — not only in the body, but also in the mind and heart. This class is an offering: a moment to pause, soften and reconnect with yourself, exactly as you are.

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative style of yoga that focuses on long-held, passive postures. Unlike more dynamic practices, Yin targets the deeper layers of the body — the connective tissues, fascia, ligaments and joints — rather than the muscles.

Rooted in both Traditional Chinese Medicine and ancient yogic philosophy, Yin Yoga works with the body’s energetic pathways, the meridians, supporting the natural flow of Qi (life force). Postures are typically held for several minutes, allowing gravity to do the work while the practitioner practices patience, presence and surrender.

Yin is not about how a pose looks — it’s about how it feels.

The Benefits for Body & Mind

Regular Yin Yoga practice can have profound effects on both physical and mental well-being:

Improved flexibility & joint health
By gently stressing connective tissue, Yin supports mobility and long-term joint resilience.

Hydration of fascia
The slow, sustained holds help keep the fascial network supple and healthy.

Nervous system regulation
Yin activates the parasympathetic nervous system — our “rest & digest” mode — helping to reduce stress, anxiety and overwhelm.

Emotional release & mental clarity
Stillness creates space. Emotions that are often held in the body may surface, be felt and gently released.

Deeper self-awareness
Yin teaches us to sit with sensations, thoughts and emotions without judgment — a powerful practice both on and off the mat.

A Practice of Soft Strength

Yin Yoga reminds us that strength doesn’t always come from effort. Sometimes it comes from allowing, from staying, from trusting the process. It’s a practice that asks nothing from you — except your presence.

This class with Sofia is perfect if you’re feeling tired, overstimulated or simply longing for a slower rhythm. Whether you are new to yoga or have practiced for years, Yin meets you where you are.

Roll out your mat, find a quiet space, and let this practice be a small ritual of care — a moment just for you.
